IC Car Show welcomes all sorts of vehicles

The fifth annual Immaculate Conception Parish Knights of Columbus Car Show is back. The community event, at 414 E. North Broadway, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

Registration runs from 10 a.m. to noon, with a $10 entry fee for classic cars. The event includes a 50-50 raffle.

Organizers are planning dash plaques for the first 25 cars, 10 trophies which include ones for Best Overall, Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, “Cutest” and five “Peoples’ Choice” trophies.

There also will be JEGS Goodie Bags for all, as well as a food concession stand.

The Knights of Columbus at Immaculate Conception Parish provides Catholic men of the parish with the opportunity to give of their time, talent and treasure to better the parish and community in their own way, according to a press release about the event.

After a couple of years affected by COVID-19, the group is ready to bring its antique car and motorcycle show back to the community for its fifth car show. It was unable to organize traditional shows in 2020 and 2021.

“We take cars right up until June 11,” said Arthur Farkas, one of the organizers of the event.

“Anything goes. If you’re willing to admit you own it, you can bring it.”

That means motorcycles, classic cars and even modern cars decked out creatively.

Farkas has a special appreciation for cars made in the 1930s, especially their aerodynamics, and he’s owned a 1936 Dodge since 1989.

“I’ve done a lot of work, and it’s still a challenge,” he said. “But it’s been a lot of fun.”
